Maghama is a city located in south Mauritania. It has a population of 16,000 inhabitants and belongs to the Gorgol region.

Rebuilding our crumbling schools
At Maghama Community of Ohio, we are committed to rebuilding the school infrastructure. Rebuilding a school requires resources and time. To do nothing means to condemn a whole youth to be lost.
The Window of a Classroom
Schools in Maghama are poorly equipped and suffer from a shortage of teachers. Classrooms are crumbling, roofs collapsing.

The schools have now become a safety concern. The Mayor of the city had to order the students to evacuate the classrooms lest the ceiling fall on them.

These classrooms were built since the 1960s…and have not been renovated for a very long time. They now pose a safety issue.

As a result, the loss of windows also has led to the deterioration of everything within the classrooms.
Our project for the future
Our project is to move from a state of disrepair to a state of the art schools. A beautiful structure like this is the result of a building plan, estimate and specifications done by engineers. If we collect all the funds, we will be able to invest the money in rebuilding a safe learning environment for the boys and girls of Maghama.

We need to partner with more non-profit organizations and must rely on donors to fulfill our charitable mission according to the objectives we set ourselves in the Organization’s Purpose, including rebuilding Maghama schools.

Women’s Health
Improving the health of our populations, especially women, is a major concern for Dr. Mariem Kebe, Dermatologist. Dr. Kebe has been volunteering each year with the Health Caravan in Maghama.
